On May 7th, nearly 350 donors raised more than $25,000 for Crescent City Schools on GiveNOLA Day, a regional day of online giving organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation. These funds will go directly to the three schools in the network: Harriet Tubman Charter School, Akili Academy, and Paul Habans Charter School. The schools will use the funds raised on GiveNOLA Day for various purposes, such as purchasing outdoor play equipment and additional musical instruments.

Due to the generosity of individual donors as well as local businesses, this year was Crescent City Schools’s most successful participation in GiveNOLA Day to date. Out of more than 750 participating nonprofits, Crescent City Schools ranked 14th for having the most number of unique donors on GiveNOLA Day. Nearly 200 donations came from donors in Louisiana, while the remaining donations came in from donors in thirty different states across the U.S.

“It was incredible to see the support that Crescent City Schools has right here in New Orleans and Louisiana, as well as throughout the country,” shared Nicole Escarra, the Director of Development for Crescent City Schools.

Crescent City Schools is particularly grateful to a number of local businesses who provided a matching gift opportunity for GiveNOLA Day. Participating companies included:

  • Apple Bus Company
  • Arthur J. Gallagher
  • Geocent
  • Fresh Food Factor
  • MPress Printing
  • Office Depot
  • Sodexo
  • TenSquare
