Angelo Cross is the Director of Enrichment at Harriet Tubman Charter School. Angelo oversees the school’s family engagement initiatives, community partnerships, and the high school choice process. Angelo has been in education for almost ten years, beginning his career as an AmeriCorps Project YES! Member. During his AmeriCorps experience, Mr. Cross worked in a Chicago Public School where he co-taught 5th and 6th grade Social Studies. Also during that time, Angelo worked closely with his team of corps members to develop school-wide support mechanisms for students and families rooted in community service projects.
After teaching in Chicago, Angelo joined a National Teaching Fellowship with Citizen Schools, a non-profit organization that partners with middle schools to extend the learning day for students through hands-on experiential learning. During his fellowship, Angelo also served as a family and community engagement specialist and volunteer coordinator, then went on to serve as both a Campus Director and Dean of Student Engagement for Citizen Schools programs in North Carolina.
Angelo joined the Harriet Tubman family in January 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Union College in Schenectady, NY and a master’s degree in education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
