Prior to serving as the Director of Exceptional Services, Autumn served as the Dean of Special Education and as an eighth grade co-teacher at Akili. Autumn earned a Special Education degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, the top-ranked school in the field at the time. She taught for 13 years as a special education teacher, catering to students in grades K-5 with all exceptionalities, both in the resource setting and as a co-teacher in inclusion classrooms. During her time at Beaumont Elementary School of Green Bay, Wisconsin, the school earned the National Blue Ribbon School Award for increasing state test scores.

Autumn returned to the University of Wisconsin, Madison to earn her Master’s of Education degree in 2013. After earning her degree, she transitioned to a Program Support Teacher role and joined the initial evaluation team for the local district. A family move to Utah brought her back to the classroom for one year as a middle school special education teacher before a transition to a position as an Instructional Coach for a statewide professional development organization, Utah Professional Development Network. During her three years as a coach, and later as a Program Specialist supervising three other coaches, Autumn designed and led results-driven training across the state and collaborated with national leaders in the field of mathematics education, special education and behavior management. Another move brought her to Louisiana in 2019. Her family loves the warmth of Louisiana’s climate and New Orleans people.
