Charlie DePietro is the School Leader Fellow. Charlie attended Duke University in Durham, NC where he received a bachelor’s degree in French and History. After graduation, Charlie joined Teach for America in the Mississippi Delta as a sixth grade math teacher. He taught for two years at George Middle School in Carrollton, MS, where he was recognized by the principal and county Superintendent for the growth his students made on their standardized tests. Charlie joined the Harriet Tubman team in 2012 as a 5th and 6th grade math teacher. During the 2013-2014 school year, 70% of Charlie’s 6th graders and 73% of his 7th graders passed the iLEAP at Basic or above. He then became the Director of Curriculum & Instruction for Mathematics at the school.
