Hello friends,
The 2025-2026 academic year is in full swing. Since our return to school, I have walked the hallways, stairwells, classrooms, and playgrounds of each of our campuses and, through those walks, I’ve witnessed happy reunions between classmates as well as staff and teachers hard at work implementing the systems and routines that are essential to joyful and rigorous learning environments.
Although each of our campuses has their own set of school-based values, they all share one value in common – Excellence. For the network as a whole, Crescent City Schools defines excellence as follows: We have high standards and challenge the status quo.
Tubman’s definition is: We do our best work, and we never give up.
Height describes excellence as: We do our best work in everything we do.
And Osborne uses the following description: We set and accomplish our goals. We show determination and do our best.
A commitment to excellence means that at Crescent City Schools, we have high standards – not just for our students – but also for all adults who are working on behalf of those students in our school buildings.
This year marks Crescent City Schools’s 15th anniversary of operating schools. Throughout the 25-26 academic year, we will have more opportunities to showcase how everyone in the CCS network shares this commitment to excellence and how we, as a network, continue to make bold choices in order to maintain those high standards and challenge the status quo in order to do what is best for students.
In the meantime, click here for a peek into how CCS kicked off celebrating 15 years of excellence with our staff before students returned to school.
I look forward to what all of our staff, students, and families will accomplish together this year.
Sincerely,
Kate Mehok
CEO
