DARA COLEMAN
Director of Content, Crescent City Schools
Joined the Team in 2018
Dara is from Long Island, NY where she attended The State University of New York Stony Brook and earned a B.A. in Political Science. She started her career in education in South Korea teaching immersive kindergarten and first grade. She spent nine years in Korea where she grew to love the culture and learn the language.
Dara joined the CCS team as a 6/8 science teacher at Paul Habans Charter School in 2018. She has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science. In 2020, she became 8th Grade Level Chair and in 2022, she became the 3-8 Science Dean. As Dean, Dara was responsible for coaching elementary and middle school science teachers at Dorothy Height Charter School. In 2022, Dara founded the VILS Media Lab at Height. The VILS lab is a dedicated makerspace with a focus on STEM learning through virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D printing, and computer design.
Dara is an active member of the Louisiana Science Teachers Association and is passionate about science education.
